Florence Sinclair-Mahdavi was born in Vienna, in 1950, of an American mother and a Persian father. She spent her childhood in the 50's in Mallorca, Spain and later went to school in England, Vienna and Madrid.
Sinclair-Mahdavi studied painting at the National Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona, the Akademie für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna and the National Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, where she graduated with a Masters degree in Fine Arts in 1971.
